The familiar July 21 rally crowds and party decorations were entirely absent at Howrah Station and the nearby ferry ghat on Tuesday morning. Unlike previous years, there were no Trinamool Congress (TMC) welcome gates, party flags, festoons, or loudspeakers set up across the station area. Everyday commuter movement continued normally without any additional turnout or political gatherings.
In past years, thousands of party workers from north and south Bengal districts would arrive at Howrah Station a day prior to join the rally in Kolkata. The party traditionally set up reception stages at the station and arranged overnight accommodation and food camps for supporters traveling onward to Dharmatala.
This year, following political shifts in the state, the station and ferry ghat remained largely empty of rally attendees even past 9:00 AM. Supporters were not seen arriving by trains or launches to march toward the venue, making July 21 appear like any other regular day at Howrah.
